Zipper On Time has stamped herself as one of the quickest young females in the country, claiming tonight’s Group 2 Laurels at Sandown Park with a trademark display of early burn and sheer determination.
In the hands of master trainer Jason Thompson, the exciting youngster exploded out of the boxes and never looked back, leading all the way over the 515 metres. Stopping the clock in 29.43 seconds, she held off a powerful late surge from Dashing Slay to secure the biggest win of her career.
Zipper On Time has only been with Team Thompson since the end of October, but she wasted no time showing her class.
Her first Victorian appearance – the Laurels heat – saw her post a blistering 29.28 seconds, instantly marking her as the greyhound to beat heading into tonight’s final.
The daughter of Clock Off x Zipper Sky has now remarkably notched ten straight wins, elevating her from a promising youngster into a genuine top-level talent.
With her confidence sky-high and the Thompson polish behind her, Zipper On Time’s rise looks far from finished.
Tonight’s Laurels victory may be the first major highlight in what looms as an exciting summer campaign.
