Fresh off celebrating a Group 1 Topgun Stayers victory with Without A Trace, trainer Peter Presutto wastes no time heading back to The Meadows – this time with a youngster he believes could be something truly special.
That youngster is Off The Chart, with just six starts for four wins to his name.
“There is a reason he is called Off The Chart – he is a pretty special animal,” Presutto said.
What sets this pup apart are his splits. Last week, even in defeat, Off The Chart clocked a blistering 17.46 second second split – the eighth fastest ever recorded over 525m at The Meadows.
The names ahead of him? Excavation, Aston Bolero, Tommy Shelby, Lightning Frank, Hard Style Rico, Simon Told Helen and the legendary Fernndo Bale.
“Do you know what makes it scary? Off The Chart is running these times at the start of his career – those dogs put theirs on the board during their peak,” Presutto said.
“He is the fastest dog I have ever had.”
Presutto said the youngster was underdone last week yet still reeled off elite sectionals – a sign that the ceiling may be far higher.
“I cannot wait for the next month or two with this dog. I expect something from him on Saturday night.”
