Quick tips: Cranbourne Cup night

James Van de Maat has tackled the Cranbourne Cup night program at Sandown Park.

While he’s settled on some short priced guns, he’s also spread the wings and put some attention on some big priced runners.

The night’s main event, the Sportsbet Cranbourne Cup, is set for 9.19pm – Canya Mayhem is the current favourite. Catch my thoughts on every race before the jump on Sky Racing 1.

Able to get along to Sandown Park? Meet Hawthorn star Nick Watson and win some coin with ‘Nick’s kick for cash’, you can also enjoy live music and entertainment.

CANYA MAYHEM READY TO MAKE HIS MARK

Race 1 – Free Power (1)
“He has the ability to be anything, but can do a fair bit wrong. If he’s going to put it together, it could be tonight.”

Race 2 – Galloping Red (5)
“Needs a bit of luck, big odds – place.”

Race 3 – Barefoot Zulu
“Only has to back up what he did (last start). I think he’ll take a step forward to a genuine crack at the Melbourne Cup.”

Race 4 – Urana Xavier (2)
“The sectional data had his last 100m like dynamite. Mitzi Rocks (1) should be out well, he should tuck in behind and get every chance.”

Race 5 – Miss Mary Jo (1) and Nova Owen (6)
“Miss Mary Jo place heavy. I think Nova Owen could get back, find the rail and get a lucky run.”

Race 6, Victoria Cup – Ethanol Water (6)
“I think this race plays into the paws of Ethanol Water. Too good, simple as that.”

Race 7 – Dr Asher (2)
“I have to tip him because he’s flying. Close watch on Keep Rolling (1) though.”

Race 8, Cranbourne Cup – Canya Mayhem (1)
See the full episode of Green Light On for a preview.

Race 9 – Outsides
“I like the outside draw. I can paint a scenario where he whips around them early and runs well.”

Race 10 – Paw Gertrude (1)
“A very even field.”

Race 11 – Morning Boss (5)
“Though, tough race. I’m with Morning Boss.

Race 12 – In Bloom (3)
“I’ve got a lot of time for her. Wants the rail and has plenty of class.”
