Invitations Sent: The Flight to the Topgun begins

The Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (MGRA) has sent out invitations to nominate for this year’s Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun & Topgun Stayers events to be held at The Meadows on Saturday night 8 November 2025.

Invitations to nominate have been sent to connections of some of the biggest names in the sport from all around Australia.

The Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun carries first place prizemoney of $150,000 for the Sprinters and $75,000 for the Stayers, with greyhounds looking to emulate the deeds of Excavation in the sprint, while the staying edition will potentially see Canya All Class attempt to become the first greyhound to go back-to-back.

Please Note: ‘Late’ Invitations have been extended to connections of Ayden’s Warrior & Zig Zag Man in the Topgun Stayers after consultation with the Topgun panel.

Connections who have received invitations to nominate now have until 10am on Friday 24 October 2025 to lodge a nomination with Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) should they wish to be considered for a position in the final fields.

Currently 30 invitations have been extended to the sprinters and 22 to the stayers however, the selection panel reserves the right to invite any greyhound deemed, in their opinion, of an invite at any point leading up to the close of nominations.

To round out our triple treat of Group 1 races on Saturday November 8, the final of the Hume Cup (600m) will also be held, with the heats set for Monday November 3.
