One of the best Australian Cup fields we have seen

We have an outstanding field assembled for the 2025 edition of the Sportsbet Australian Cup following four quality semi-finals tonight at The Meadows.

Mepunga Tully was the fastest qualifier into the Australian Cup thanks to a blistering 5.06 second first sectional from box seven.

The Group 1 Australian Cup will be her third attempt at Group 1 success, with a second placing her highest achievement so far at group level.

Although Tim Zoo‘s heat victory was the slowest in qualifying, his run has to be seen to be believed. We may have to rename his efforts a Tim Zoo, and we can’t forget he is the reigning Australian Cup champion.

Team Thompson lead the charge with three runners in the 2025 edition of the Sportsbet Australian Cup.

Box draws for the Sportsbet Australian Cup, Fanta Bale Stayers and Rookie Rebel will be conducted on Monday afternoon on The Meadows facebook page.

Vincent Bale used box one to perfection whilst battling the rain to win his semi-final of the Group 1 Australian Cup at The Meadows.

Zipping Hopkins put in an eye-catching performance coming from last to power through to the second position to qualify.

Vincent Bale (1) leads all the way in a time of 29.88 seconds ahead of Zipping Hopkins (5) in the opening Australian Cup semi-final.

Mepunga Tully put down some serious sectionals to win her semi-final of the Australian Cup over Flying Zulu.

Mepunga Tully (7) defeats Flying Zulu (1) in a time of 29.77 seconds in semi-final two of the Australian Cup.

In a near identical run to his last start Group 1 victory, Tim Zoo has come from near last to cruise through the field to win his way through to the Australian Cup in a time of 29.91 seconds.

Deadly Avenger kept himself in a solid position, able to run over the top of Hotel Whisky One to run second and make it through to his third Group 1.

Tim Zoo (8) runs over the top of Deadly Avenger (3).

Excavation made the final Australian Cup semi-final his own, working his way through to the front, holding off the steam train of Canya All Class.

Excavation (5) stopped the clock in a time of 29.896 seconds, 5.10 early to defeat Canya All Class (1) who has gone 29.93 coming from behind.
