Welcome to the Club Miss Envy

Fresh off the back of a third placing in the Group 1 Sportsbet Melbourne Cup, WA star Miss Envy smashed the clock at Sandown Park tonight in a heat of the Laurels.

Stopping the clock in a time of 28.98sec (5.07sec early), Miss Envy lead all the way from box one for Krystal and Steve Shinners.

Reality Best finished second behind Miss Envy and was the second fastest qualifier for the Group 2 Laurels.

“We have been saying she could run around the 29 second mark,” co-trainer Steve Shinners said.

“We have had to back off around the Topgun because we thought she would get a start. When she was named as reserve, we sparingly trialled her to ensure she didn’t get injured and then lost fitness through travel.”

“It’s taken her three runs to get back to her best and that’s where she is now.”

Miss Envy jumped, led and won from box five in her Sportsbet Melbourne Cup heat. Defeating Warm Cockles in a time of 29.16secs.

“She would have to be the best bitch in Australia after going quicker than Lakeview Emily.”

“She’s a four-state winner and couldn’t do much more to earn that title.”

Race caller Dan Hibberd was more than impressed following her run.

“We expected her to run time given the small field, but that was something else,” Race caller Dan Hibberd said.
