Explicit justifies expectations in Ballarat Cup

Explicit claimed the fourth feature race of his sublime career with a dominant win in last night’s Sportsbet Ballarat Cup.

As he was in his heat, he was tardy to begin before letting rip his brutal turn-of-foot to lead into the turn. From that point onwards it was a one act affair, he extended his lead to win by almost five lengths in a fast time of 24.81.

“He didn’t get the start right like he can but he had plenty of room to work with,” said Luke Thompson post-race.

It was the fifth Ballarat Cup won by the Thompson family.

“It’s been a great race for us over the years. Mum (Seona) grew up around Ballarat and she’s good memories at the track. It’s always very nice to win the Cup here.”

Explicit will now be aimed at the Pink Diamond series culminating at Shepparton on June 15 and the Brisbane Cup at Albion Park where heats will be run on June 27.

“He’ll go towards the Pink Diamond, after that we’ll venture to Brisbane.”

Fellow kennelstars Transponder and Flying Zulu are expected to join Explicit for his Brisbane Cup tilt.
