Victorian stars take aim in Brisbane

Queensland’s Winter Carnival is starting to ramp up and that starts today and tomorrow with a heap of Victoria’s stars on show.

This evening’s (Wednesday) meeting at Albion Park will see Brisbane Cup Preludes and heats of the Dashing Corsair for the stayers.

Tomorrow night (Thursday) things heat up again with heats of the Cyndie’s Magic over 600m and heats of the popular and rich Flying Amy Classic for young sprinters.

Finals for all three events will be next Thursday June 6 which carry a combined total of $382,500 in prizemoney – click here for carnival details.

TONIGHT – WEDNESDAY

RACE 5 – BRISBANE CUP PRELUDE (4.35pm)
Trooper Tears joins Rob and Tim Britton’s satellite kennel in Queensland and begins his Cup campaign. He meets local gun Bear’s Bullet.

RACE 6 – DASHING CORSAIR HEAT 1 (4.59pm)
Sale Cup finalist Get Ready Dora aims to recapture winning form. Mepunga Loaf is fresh off a solid Sandown Cup campaign and First Picked has been good since moving north.

RACE 7 – DASHING CORSAIR HEAT 2 (5.19pm)
Osprey Athena was runner-up to Wild Cash at Sandown Park last Friday, one of a few engaged tonight for Jeff Britton.

RACE 8 – DASHING CORSAIR HEAT 3 (5.37pm)
Promising stayer Pass Mark heads interstate for the first time. Just like First Picked in the opening heat, Fast Milkman is well accustomed to Albion Park. They meet the almighty local, Valpolicella.

TOMORROW NIGHT – THURSDAY

RACE 1 – CYNDIE’S MAGIC HEAT 1 (6.30pm)
Binny Doo comes up with a favourable draw. NSW gun Bella Una headlines.

RACE 2 – CYNDIE’S MAGIC HEAT 2 (6.50pm)
No Big V involvement. NSW’s staying powerhouse Palawa King returns to Albion Park.

RACE 3 – CYNDIE’S MAGIC HEAT 3 (7.10pm)
Dundee Lexi is looking for three on-the-bounce since being in QLD. The handy Jamie Bale features for Team Delbridge.

RACE 4 – CYNDIE’S MAGIC HEAT 4 (7.31pm)
The entertaining Yachi Bale takes his show on the road – winless in his past five but has been beaten by some serious ones.

RACE 5 – CYNDIE’S MAGIC HEAT 5 (7.55pm)
Speaking of entertaining, Hector Fawley has drawn well and as expected is flying. He flew in a trial at Geelong (25.29, home in 14.07) on Sunday morning.

RACE 6 – FLYING AMY HEAT 1 (8.13pm)
Stormy Day is first up since the G1 Harrison-Dawson and Albion Park has been a happy hunting ground for Team Sharp.

RACE 7 – FLYING AMY HEAT 2 (8.34pm)
No Big V involvement.

RACE 8 – FLYING AMY HEAT 3 (8.58pm)
Mepunga Shine has been battling to return to the winners list, he meets sharp NSW sprinter Good Odds Cobber.

RACE 9 – FLYING AMY HEAT 4 (9.17pm)
Star sprinter Morton is undefeated from four starts at Albion Park, including some mammoth performances. Lakeview Emily is first up since the Sapphire Crown and QLD legend Tony Brett takes the reins.

RACE 10 – FLYING AMY HEAT 5 (9.43pm)
After a disappointing result in a heat of the Sapphire Crown, Australia’s hottest sprinting prospect, Mackenna, is back. Excavation is super young but has good potential.

RACE 11 – FLYING AMY HEAT 6 (10.08pm)
Des Douch will be hoping Here Comes Milli can replicate her faultless Sapphire Crown win. Warm Cockles, Tattooed and Bernie Burrow fill the inside three boxes.
