Explicit, Fernando Phil headline Shepparton Cup heats

Two of the hottest names in the sport – Explicit and Fernando Phil – will head north for Monday night’s heats of the Group 2 CKH Painting Shepparton Cup (450m).

Explicit, widely regarded as the ‘next big thing’, will contest the opening heat at 8pm, while Fernando Phil is fresh off a stunning Horsham Cup victory after gaining a start as a reserve.

Other notable contenders include Flying Zulu (29.02sec PB Sandown Park), Shima Current (last start Horsham winner in 26.75sec) and recent Shepparton Classic victor Matt Loch, with that trio to face off in a red-hot fifth and final qualifier.
