Rooney hones in early at Shepparton

It wasn’t a classic night at the office for Nath Rooney at Shepparton last week, but he bounced back with force on Tuesday at Warragul with his multi saluting, value tip ($16 chance) a narrow runner-up and the quaddie landed.

He’s back on deck for Shepparton tonight and has his set sorted. The meeting kicks off at 6.53pm and you can hear Nath’s race-by-race previews throughout the night on RSN.

Best – Race 2, OUR FLYING DREAM (7)

Solid track and distance placing last start, wide draw suits here and with no initial speed drawn around her, I expect her to cross and lead all the way.

Next Best – Race 3, MEPUNGA TILLY (7)

She’s fourth up tonight after a long spell and her recent back-to back-track and distance placings indicates she’s ready to peak here tonight. The wide draw suits and she should carve across in the early stages and be hard to beat.

Value – Race 7, PERFECT TREASURE (8)

Significant drop in grade after competing in Free-For-All company at Healesville last start. He was placed at the track and distance from a wide draw in similar company four runs back and I think he gets his chance from the wide draw to run a cheeky race at a good each-way quote.
