Jarick Bale has produced a sensational come-from-behind heat win in a heat of the Group 1 TRFM Sale Cup (640m) to extend his career by another week.
The veteran chaser, who’ll turn five in March, will be chasing a third straight win in the Sale Cup on Boxing Day in his final race.
“The Sale Cup series will be his last hurrah,” Lisa Delbridge, wife of trainer Mark Delbridge, announced on Phoenix night.
Jarick Bale was one of five heat winners on Sunday night when he stormed home to beat Big Suzie in a spectacular last-stride victory.
Other heat winners were Drill Sergeant, Get Ready Dora, Home Brew and Zinzan Chopper, while the ageless Untapped joined Jarick Bale in qualifying for a third straight Sale Cup final after being one of the three fastest 2nd placegetters.
