‘Jarick’ commences bid for third Sale Cup

Greyhound racing has been hit with ‘three-peat mania’ surrounding megastar Wow She’s Fast in The Phoenix.

But ageless veteran Jarick Bale starts his campaign for three successive wins in the Group 1 TRFM Sale Cup (640m) on Sunday night.

Trained by Mark Delbridge, Jarick Bale (Box 8) will contest Heat 1 (Race 7, 7.48pm).

Age shall not weary Jarick Bale which turns five years old in March next year.

He’s won 37 races, with 23 seconds and 14 thirds, from 114 starts and amassed $608,338 in prizemoney.

WATCH: “Jarick Bale’s got it won. Jarick Bale for the Cup again!” JARICK BALE (B7) claims the 2022 Sale Cup in a slick 37.09sec.

Jarick Bale has only had four race starts since early August. However, his most recent start – at Geelong, albeit over 460m – was full of merit.

The Sale track has been redesigned but it’s worth noting Jarick Bale won the 2021 final from box eight and the 2022 final from box seven, after winning the traditional lead-up – Sale Distance Championship – from box eight.

In all, Jarick Bale has had 21 starts from the ‘pink alley’ for eight wins, six seconds and one third.

A measure of his reputation – even in the twilight zone – is that he’s on the third line of Sportsbet’s market at $5.50 in his heat, behind Minter Frost ($2.70) and Big Suzie ($3.50).

Five star-studded heats highlight the program, with the favourites in the other heats being: Heat 1 (Race 5, 7.07pm) – Stomping ($1.90); Heat 2 (Race 6, 7.29pm) – Like Wildfire ($1.95); Heat 4 (Race 8, 8.07pm) – Zoha Bale ($2.30); Heat 5 (Race 9, 8.27pm) – Untapped ($2.05).

Delbridge also has Ailee Bale (Box 8, $4.80) in Heat 1, Cain Bale (Box 7, $9.50) in Heat 2, Zoha Bale (Box 6, $2.30F) in Heat 4 and Valor Bale (Box 6, $3.50) in Heat 5.

Meanwhile, ‘All In’ betting is headed by Like Wildfire ($3.50) from Stomping and Untapped – both at $6 – and then Pearly Tears ($7) and Zoha Bale ($8).
