The Stir Up | August 10 Edition

GRV’s Peter Quilty, Gerard Guthrie and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria.

Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook!

Quilts Gents, we’ll find out tonight the greyhounds that will represent Victoria in the National Sprint and Distance Championships on August 26 with the state finals at The Meadows.

Gerard We’ll start with the Distance Championship (Race 7). Zoha Bale was amazing at Sandown Park last Thursday night and Mark Delbridge exuded confidence when he spoke to Quilts.

Trent Alfie Moon has a top record at The Meadows including his second Group 3 victory in the Fireball Final last start, so it would be unwise to rule him out.

Quilts Sunnyside Zeus is in great form highlighted by his Group 2 McKenna Memorial triumph last month, while the Brittons have four runners including Group 1 winner First Picked.

Gerard Don’t forget about Moraine Suzie! She made her name in the Victorian Distance Championship at Sandown Park twelve months ago on her path to Group 1 Topgun Stayers glory.

Trent Race 8 is the Victorian Sprint Championship, and the field is star-studded. There’s three Group 1 winners including Melbourne Cup champion Yachi Bale, and four Group 1 placegetters.

Quilts Will Postman Pat rebound from his first defeat in eight Victorian races last Saturday night? Box 5 appears awkward, but he was delivering terrific wins before the slight blip on the radar.

Gerard Can El Dorado continue his form turnaround and win his fifth successive race? Daryl Holmes cannot fault his star, but he recognised how tough it will be with Postman Pat drawn on the left of El Dorado.

Trent Amron Boy is a huge chance with his strong record at The Meadows highlighted by the Group 1 Silver Chief triumph in December. He is also drawn inside Postman Pat.

Quilts To think we haven’t mentioned Group 1 placegetters Tinker Norm and Landyn Bale in-depth along with Group 1 winner Zippy Tesla and the in-form Aussie Rocks. What a night!
