The Stir Up – July 6 Edition

GRV’s Peter Quilty, Gerard Guthrie and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria.

Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook!

Quilts Fellas, we have a huge couple of nights coming up. Tonight’s Group 2 McKenna Memorial Final at Sandown Park is followed by two Group 1 events at Albion Park tomorrow night.

Gerard Quilts, Hector Fawley has a top chance to showcase his middle-distance superiority. Can he make it five wins from five starts at Sandown Park over the 595-metre trip?

Trent Mark and Lisa Delbridge will have a big say in proceedings. They have consistent chasers Valor Bale and Ailee Bale and three-time Group 1 champion Jarick Bale.

Quilts I caught up with Correy Grenfell this week to discuss the chances of Rhino Bale and he remarked that “he’s a hard dog to get past and I would imagine he’s going to be the one in front early”.

Trent The in-form Sunnyside Zeus must be given a big chance as well from Box 1. OK, now we focus on what could be a banner night for Victorian-trained greyhounds at Albion Park.

Gerard Postman Pat is primed to extend his unbeaten run in Australia to eight races in the Brisbane Cup Final according to Jason Thompson, who is happy with Box 8 for the Kiwi import.

Trent Amron Boy was close to setting the time standard in the Brisbane Cup heats last Thursday night. He has a great opportunity to claim his third Group 1 title and pass $1 million in prize money.

Quilts The third Victorian-trained chaser in the Brisbane Cup Final is Mepunga Warrior. He has certainly lived up to his name with 28 wins and 40 minor placings from 102 starts.

Gerard Good luck to Play Nice, Ariarne Bale, Wheel And Go and Dirt Farmer in the Group 1 Queensland Cup Final. Rob and Tim Britton agree that Wheel And Go is the best chance of their three finalists.

Trent Don’t forget that Bendigo have three feature finals tomorrow night, while The Meadows is staging a Talking Footy event on Saturday evening.
