The Stir Up – June 29 Edition

GRV’s Peter Quilty, Gerard Guthrie and Trent Langskaill provide their thoughts on some of the star greyhounds racing in Victoria.

Keep an eye on these, they are worth saving in your WatchDog Blackbook!

Quilts Gents, what a Thursday night of greyhound racing we have coming up. There are Victorian stars aplenty at Albion Park, and we have two classy heats of the McKenna Memorial at Sandown Park.

Gerard Quilts, Amron Boy enjoyed his return to Albion Park last Thursday night. He is eyeing his fifth successive victory in the first heat of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup.

Trent Will Postman Pat be in seventh heaven after the fourth heat of the Brisbane Cup? He almost broke the Albion Park 520-metre track record in his sixth win from six Australian starts.

Quilts Rejuvenate did not have much luck last Thursday night, but he still commands respect in the fifth heat with his strike rate of 18 wins and four seconds from 25 races.

Gerard Flying Amy Classic runner-up Umberto is a model of consistency with 16 top-three finishes from 17 starts. Could he upstage Group 1 winner Victa Damian in the sixth heat?

Trent The seventh heat of the Brisbane Cup should be a cracker. Alpha Zulu – a winner of seven races from 10 starts – is facing this year’s country cups queen Kelsey Bale.

Quilts The heats of the Group 1 Queensland Cup feature a number of Victorian stayers. Group 1 winners Ariarne Bale and Moraine Suzie highlight the second and third heats respectively.

Gerard The fourth heat should be a beauty with Group performers Wheel And Go, Untapped and Alfie Moon all involved. We then have Group 1 winner First Picked headlining the fifth heat.

Quilts We cannot overlook the two heats of the McKenna Memorial. What a clash the first heat is! Triple Group 1 champion Jarick Bale against the potential topliner Hector Fawley.

Trent The second heat should be just as compelling. Mark Delbridge kennelmates Valor and Ailee Bale have star quality, while Trumph is a two-time Group 1 finalist. What a night!
