‘Super’ Trooper lights up Launching Pad semis

Trooper Tears produced one of the quickest runs seen at Sandown Park in recent months when clocking an electrifying 29.012sec in a semi-final of the Group 3 Launching Pad on Thursday evening.

On a night in which 32 young guns contested four semis for a spot in next Thursday night’s $225,000 (approx.) final, Trooper Tears stood head and shoulders above the rest when almost breaking the magical 29 seconds barrier in the fourth and final qualifier.

The first two placegetters in each semi made it through to the final, which carries a monstrous $150,000 first prize.

The Launching Pad is held over three weeks and is open to greyhounds with between 1-30 starts and 1-6 wins. Last year’s series was won by Wow She’s Fast, who has since gone on to become the first greyhound in history to earn $2 million in prize money.

Semi-final winners (Fastest to slowest):
29.012sec Trooper Tears
29.349sec Dundee Rebel
29.349sec Starline Express
29.383sec Meteor Monelli
