Sportsbet Emerald Series

Straight racing will once again prove to be ‘great racing’ with the introduction of the Sportsbet Emerald Series – hosted by the Healesville Greyhound Association – in March 2023.

The $50,000 feature event, conducted over 300 metres, comes with an added layer of intrigue and excitement.

The Sportsbet Emerald Series is made up of eight heats, each comprising four greyhounds. The unique twist sees the eight fastest times recorded make up the final – regardless of finishing position.

“This is a completely new concept, with the best 32 greyhounds nominated, and the entire race is based on times,” HGA manager Cynthia O’Brien announced on racing.com.

“Every greyhound who competes in the heats will have their times recorded and the final will consist of the eight fastest times – not necessarily the dogs who win their heats.”

“It’s a great opportunity and I really hope people get behind us.”

The entertainment doesn’t stop with the racing, as the HGA will host a Community Day on Saturday, March 11.
