The Phoenix box draw Sunday

The final – and all important– piece in the countdown to the $1.65 million The Phoenix, the world’s richest greyhound race, will be completed with Sunday morning’s box draw, which will be covered live and free on Thrill Of The Chase on 7two from 10am.

The all-star field of eight sprinters vying for the $1 million winner’s purse at The Meadows on Saturday week (December 17) will be headlined by Victorian superstar Wow She’s Fast, winner of the inaugural The Phoenix last year.

Wow She’s Fast shares top billing in Sportsbet’s pre-box draw market with Amron Boy, favourite for Saturday night’s G1 Silver Chief, also being held at The Meadows, at $3.40.

NSW champion She’s A Pearl, Australia’s record stakes winner with earnings of $1,367,970, is the $4.50 second elect.

Last year, Wow She’s Fast which represented Sportsbet, exited box 4 in her flying 29.66sec victory in The Phoenix at just her seventh start.

The eight Phoenix contenders, their slot holder and pre-box prices are:

AMRON BOY: Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) – $3.40

EL DORADO: People of Peter Sadler Removals and Logistics – $11

MCINERNEY: RSN 927 – $19

PADDY WANTS PATS: Zipping/Keeping Syndicate – $10

PLAINTIFF: Neds – $8

SHE’S A PEARL: Tabcorp – $4.50

TYANNA BELLE: Racing Queensland – $41

WOW SHE’S FAST: Sportsbet – $3.40

The Phoenix meeting will be the final night of GRV’s inaugural Sportsbet Dream Chasers Festival, which has seen $4.1 million in prizemoney distributed over five spectacular Saturday nights.
