Gippsland greyhound clubs support NAIDOC Week

Gippsland greyhound clubs celebrated NAIDOC Week with a special series of meetings across the region.

Sale, Traralgon, and Warragul greyhound clubs staged race meetings in partnership with Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC).

The three Gippsland-based clubs, along with each of GRV’s metropolitan and regional clubs, are committed to the inclusion of Indigenous businesses and working and training opportunities for First Nations People at race meetings and other events to ensure building lasting local community partnerships.

Each club held a race named the NAIDOC Week Cup and the winning greyhound was presented with a trophy and rug.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
