‘Happy snaps’

Tynong North trainer Gavin Clifton has provided a ‘clearer picture’ on Photo Man’s racing itinerary.

Three starts ago, Photo Man – a winner of eight races from 19 starts – raced for a massive $1m purse in the Million Dollar Chase in Sydney.

And now he’ll chase a $7000 first prize in the all-male Healesville Derby (350m) – Race 8, 1.05pm – on Sunday.

It’s a great opportunity to keep him up and about without being too harsh on him.”

“However, the main aim is next month’s Flying Amy Classic in Brisbane,” Clifton said.

“But I needed a ‘fill in’ event, and he does go well at Healesville. It’s a great opportunity to keep him up and about without being too harsh on him – and $7000 is nothing to be sneezed at.

Clifton adds Photo Man (Box 1), which was an unlucky second in a heat, is “drawn to win the race”.

He and his training partner/cousin David McKenzie also have fastest heat winner Karmen Kristy (Box 2) in the $70000 to-the-winner all-female Healesville Oaks final (350m) – Race 6, 12.24pm – on the same program.

Karmen Kristy posted 19.61sec in notching her 13th win from 41 starts.

“I think she’ll go very well,” Clifton said. “The heat was her first look at the track, so I’m expecting improvement.

“She’s the hardest chasing female greyhound we’ve had; she’s so tenacious.”
