Waterloo Cup: And then there were eight…

Day 1 of the 2021 Waterloo Cup took place at Longwood today, with only eight greyhounds – including reigning champion Making Gravy – still in the running to claim coursing’s holy grail next Sunday.

For the first time since 2012, the Waterloo Cup received a full card of 64 entrants, with the event spread over consecutive Sundays this year instead of the traditional programming of back-to-back days (Saturday and Sunday).

Greyhounds compete up to six times throughout the Waterloo Cup in a knockout competition, with the first three rounds of this year’s series now complete.

Here are the final eight contenders, and further below, a glimpse of those greyhounds in action today courtesy of photographer Clint Anderson.
