‘Diamond-cut’ Cats & Koblenz?

The ‘top of the table’ Cats vs Doggies clash will be a blockbuster – even if the crowd has been restricted to 7000 due to COVIDSafe settings.

But that hasn’t deterred TAB from putting some ‘sparkle’ into tonight’s AFL/Greyhounds offer.

The betting giant’s cross-sports proposition is a ‘diamond-studded’ $3.50 for the Geelong Cats to defeat the Western Bulldogs and star in the making Koblenz to make it nine wins on the spin.

Geelong is third on the AFL ladder with nine wins from 12 matches, while the Bulldogs are second with 10 wins and will replace top-placed Melbourne if successful.

Last week, the Cats put out Port Adelaide’s ‘lights’ with a 21pt win. The Bulldogs had a bye.

Meanwhile, Koblenz – prepared at Lara by David Geall – is engaged in a $25,000 to-the-winner Pink Diamond Rookie Sprinter final (500m) at Bendigo. He’s $2.00 favourite on TAB’s fixed odds market.

The G1-bred Koblenz (May ’19 Fernando Bale x Up Hill Jill) has won 13 races from 18 starts (72%), including the past eight in a row.

He’s a ‘cousin’ of dual country cups winner Ferdinand Boy, also trained by Geall, who is chasing a $75,000 first prize in tonight’s Pink Diamond Champion Short Course final (425m) – also at Bendigo.

The Geelong Cats v Western Bulldogs clash at GMHBA Stadium commences at 7.50pm, while Koblenz is in Race 7 Box 1 at 9.05pm.
