‘King Shima’ smashes Horsham 485m TR

Superstar Shima Shine was recently anointed the ‘successor’ to retired champion Simon Told Helen’s sprint throne.

And he’s acceded to greyhound racing’s ‘royal seat’ in a style befitting of a king!

The dual Group 1 winner revealed why he’s Australia’s No. 1 sprinting monarch with a track record-breaking win in a Group 2 Horsham Cup heat (485m) this afternoon.

Contesting the last of five heats, Shima Shine ($1.30F) clocked a scintillating 26.79sec, which sliced 0.08sec off the previous mark of 26.87sec set by Orson Allen on March 9, 2019.

Trained by Andrea Dailly, Shima Shine – whose younger half-sister Shima Classic will contest tomorrow night’s G1 TAB Australian Cup final at The Meadows – now holds three track records.

He also holds the time standard at Warragul 460m (25.19sec) and Bendigo 425m (23.35sec).

Winner of the G1 Topgun and G1 Gold Bullion – and a six-time G1 finalist – Shima Shine (Nov ’17 Barcia Bale x Shima Song) notched his 31st win from 51 starts.

He was also a finalist in the 2019 Million Dollar Chase.

The $67,000 Horsham Cup final will be held on Saturday 6 March, the first leg of greyhound racing’s inaugural ‘Western Festival of Racing’.
