Local Cup on Playlist’s song list

Briagolong based greyhound Playlist will tackle the big stage on Sunday night for heats of his local Cup – the Group 1 Gold 98.3 FM Sale Cup.

Run over the 650 metre distance, Playlist has drawn box seven against one of the hottest up-and-coming stayers in work – Houdini Boy.

“Drawing a heat with Houdini Boy, especially off box one, will make things hard for Playlist but I do believe he can lead from box seven and really put himself into contention,” trainer Matthew Clark said.

Playlist has one very important factor on his side when it comes to facing Houdini Boy and Arizona Eyes in the opening Sale Cup heat – knowledge of the track.

Used to long drives to Victoria’s metropolitan tracks of The Meadows (seven and a half hour round trip) and Sandown (six hour round trip), the trip to Sale is a short 30 mins from the kennels.

“Playlist and his brother were educated on the Sale track which is always an added bonus when it comes to country cup time.”

Playlist isn’t just trained locally; he is also owned by Sale locals.

The Rock N Robbo Syndicate is made up of Rotti Security’s owner Louie Cardillo and long-term employee of the Sale Club Gary Roberts.

Louie Cardillo is also a dedicated sponsor of the Sale Greyhound Racing Club.

“Louie and Gary are great supporters of the Club and it would be great to see them rewarded with a Sale Cup win.”

“I’m not sure Playlist is going to win the Sale Cup, but he is going to give it his best crack and I could think of worse boxes to do it from.”

Playlist had his first start over Sale’s 650m distance last week where he finished second to Run Like Jess.

Four heats of the Group 1 Gold 98.3 FM Sale Cup will be held on Sunday, with the winners and second place getters advancing through to the $75,000 to-the-winner final which will be run on Boxing Day.
