Team Dailly aims for domination in Warrnambool Cup

Anakie based greyhound trainers Andrea and Tom Dailly will head into Wednesday night’s Group 2 TAB Warrnambool Cup (450m) with half of the eight-dog field.

Team Dailly’s four chances is the highest number of greyhounds one kennel has had in a Warrnambool Cup.

According punters, Aston Cade is Team Dailly’s best chance to win their fourth Warrnambool Cup with the TAB market having him at $6.50 after drawing box three.

“He really likes to be drawn out wide rather than being drawn inside,” Tom Dailly said.

Last Thursday in the heats, Aston Cade ran down young talent and kennelmate Jax Bale, who finds himself jumping from box five in his first group race.

“He (Jax Bale) chases very hard and once he gets out of the boxes, he goes like a demon to try to get to the lead.”

“If he gets a bit of clear running, he might be thereabouts because he really has a motor.”

Dailly believes that the kennel’s best chance to win the 2020 Warrnambool Cup is Faithy Bale, who is the only female in the race and jumps from box six.

“Faithy Bale is our best because I am anticipating that she will get out before Jax Bale does.”

Faithy Bale is quoted as a $17 chance, while Leon Bale (pictured top of page) is Dailly’s outsider at $31 but Tom believes he is in with a huge chance.

“I think Leon Bale is the dog who is going to get the clearest run out of the boxes because Faithy Bale should head towards the fence and give him a bit of room to run.”

“He is quite a good dog. He goes around in good class races week in week out so I wouldn’t discount him in the Warrnambool Cup.”

The Dailly team won last year’s Warrnambool Cup with Dyna Patty.

Little River greyhound Simon Told Helen is the favourite to take out Wednesday’s final, which is Race 6 on the card at 8.37pm.
