STOP PRESS: HOOKED ON SCOTCH

Megastar Hooked On Scotch, who is on the comeback trail, has come through his first serious hit-out with flying colours.

Trainer Jason Thompson provided a glowing report on the champ who was hand-slipped behind a lure on Healesville’s straight track this afternoon.

“He’s pulled up well and that’s the main thing,” Thompson said. “I’ll plan the next stage of his comeback over the next few days, but he’ll probably have a couple more hand-slips prior to trialling at Warragul over 400 metres within possibly 2-3 weeks.”

A five-time group race winner, Hooked On Scotch hasn’t raced since sustaining a stopper-related injury winning a Group 2 Warragul Cup heat (460m) in a near record 25.34sec on January 3.
