Starter and travel fees to move to direct credit during COVID-19 restrictions from 23 March

Greyhound Clubs Victoria (GCV) and Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) are working together to ensure greyhound racing continues during the COVID-19 pandemic and are conducting daily reviews as issues and suggestions arise from a multitude of sources, departments and bodies.

The issue of social distancing has been high on the agenda and as such a joint decision has been made to cease with the payment of starters fees and travel fees on track. These payments will be made via Fasttrack direct into trainers’ bank accounts the day after each race meeting commencing with meetings conducted on Monday March 23 and continuing until further notice.

For meetings conducted Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays these payments will be processed each Monday.

GCV and GRV appreciate the impact that this decision potentially has for trainers and guarantee that the direct payment option is to be reconsidered once the COVID-19 restrictions and pandemic is over.

This decision has not been taken lightly. Large cash handling and the closeness of the transaction in terms of social distancing is being eliminated where possible in the community, and greyhound racing has taken this step as another precaution to assist in the viability and continuation of racing.

GCV and GRV would like to thank the industry participants for their understanding of and cooperation with all regulations put in place thus far and rest assured any further regulations that could be introduced will be done so for the purpose of maintaining the ongoing viability of greyhound racing.
