Rivals to renew acquaintances

Reigning RSN Sandown Cup winner Rajasthan is set to renew his rivalry with champion stayer Tornado Tears on Friday night.

The star duo has enjoyed some great battles and will face off again in a heat of the Group 1 Bold Trease (715m) at Sandown.

“The only way to beat Tornado Tears is to crowd him early but being drawn in Box 8 he won’t have any pressure on his outside and could open up a handy lead,” said Rajasthan’s trainer Robert Camilleri.

“I think some people may have forgotten just how quick Tornado Tears is.”

“In saying that, Rajasthan is at his best when he settles in second position behind another greyhound going really fast out in front. When that happens he thrives on the challenge, so hopefully that’s how it pans out and we see the best of him.”

Tornado Tears is the second favourite at $4.50 to win the Bold Trease, while Rajasthan is at $14.

Four Bold Trease heats will be run tomorrow with the first two placegetters making it through to the $100,000 to-the-winner final on Friday week.
