Shootout goes to script for Scotch

Hooked On Scotch proved he is the fastest greyhound in Australia with a sensational win in the Shootout (515m) tonight at Sandown Park as part of Victorian greyhound racing’s Festival of Racing.

The race ran to script for the son of Barcia Bale and Nicki Fields, as he settled behind the leader Whiskey Riot before hitting the front in the final moments to score in 29.18sec.

Hooked On Scotch claimed the $25,000 winner-take-all prize.

The Jason Thompson-trained superstar has taken Australia by storm in his short career, notching numerous feature races including the Speed Star, the State Of Origin, Adelaide Cup, Geelong Gold Cup and now the Shootout.

The Festival of Racing will now move into it’s final leg, the TAB Melbourne Cup, heats of which will be run on 22 November.
