THE WATCHDOG’S WEDNESDAY WHISPER – ASTON NINO

Rowsley trainer Anthony Azzopardi is getting ready to ‘raise a riot’ at Ballarat tonight.

Amazingly, The Watchdog has selected his kennel representatives on top in the first four races.

Aston Nino (Race 1, Box 2), who finished second on debut at Ballarat last week, should start the Azzopardi juggernaut rolling in a Maiden heat over 390 metres. He went down to the Glenn Rounds-trained Aston Wizard by nearly six and a half lengths in a Maiden (450m), albeit in a cracking 25.06sec.

Then follows blueblood litter brothers Classy Riot (Race 2, Box 7) and Slick Riot (Race 3, Box 3). Both are making their first racetrack appearance.

But notably, the January 2018 Brett Lee-Ready To Riot siblings are younger half-brothers of Fernando’s Riot and Whiskey Riot – also prepared by Azzopardi – who will contest the Group 1 Adelaide Cup (515m) at Angle Park in Adelaide on Friday night.

Zipping Lach (Race 4, Box 7), a winner of two races from 10 starts, rounds-off the ‘fab four’ in a Restricted Win (450m).

Check out Aston Nino (box seven) in his debut performance at Ballarat last week:
