FRIDAY FLUTTER – WALLBANGER

Punters should be ‘drinking a toast’ to Wallbanger at Geelong tonight.

The ‘new kid on the block’ is The Watchdog’s top selection in a GRV Vic Bred Maiden Series final over 400 metres.

Trained at Anakie by Angela Langton, Wallbanger created a huge impression on race debut last week when he set the heats time standard of 22.33sec. It was around three lengths quicker than the second fastest qualifier, Percy’s Magic (22.51sec).

Wallbanger’s aspirations in the final have been made easier due to the scratching of Lap It Up (box three). With no reserve coming into the race, this means Wallbanger has a vacant box on his immediate inside.

Currently, Langton is third on the metropolitan trainers’ table, with 60 winners from 264 runners at a strike rate of 22.73%. And she’s ninth at Geelong, with 23 winners from 75 starters at a strike rate of 30.67%.

Tonight’s final carries a thirst-quenching $7,500 winner’s purse for a maiden class event.

Now that’s a lot of cocktails – (Harvey) Wallbangers of course!

Here is a replay of Wallbanger’s (box two) effortless 22.33sec heat success last week:
