THURSDAY THOUGHT – BAROOGA BRETT

There is no substitute for class. And in saying that, Barooga Brett is in a class of his own – with a capital ‘C’.

Not surprisingly, The Watchdog is in total agreeance and accordingly has ‘put him on top’ in a Mixed 4/5 over 595 metres at Sandown Park tonight.

And the factors in his favour are as clear as day… He will exit from box one, a draw in which he has notched two wins, five seconds and one third from 11 starts. Plus, his only start over Sandown Park’s middle distance resulted in a slashing 33.95sec victory in October last year.

But most telling of all is that Barooga Brett’s 19 wins (with 16 seconds and seven thirds) from 65 starts have earned connections a healthy $344,680 in stakes, which suggests he has taken on the ‘big guns’.

And that he has, with a black type CV that reveals two Group 1 wins: 2019 Silver Chief (525m) and 2019 Temlee (525m) – both at The Meadows.

Prepared at Lara by Brooke Ennis, Barooga Brett – a seven-time Group race finalist – also won the 2018 Group 3 Cup Night Sprint (515m) at Sandown Park.

So, it goes without saying that he’s a big-race performer!

Check out Barooga Brett’s 33.95sec win, at his only start over 595 metres at Sandown Park:
