WEDNESDAY WHISPER – HONE IN

Hone In by name, Hone In by nature.

Yes, punters will be ‘honing in’ on Hone In (Race 4, Box 6) in a Veterans race over 390 metres at Ballarat tonight.

Prepared at Lovely Banks by Brett Bravo, Hone In is one of The Watchdog’s top selections on the 12-event fixture.

Age shall not weary the legs of Hone In (whelped October 2014), who will be contesting his 109th race start.

The rising five-year-old has notched 36 wins, 20 seconds and 15 thirds in a career which commenced way back in May 2016. Obviously, his mind is still making appointments his legs can keep!

And box six shouldn’t pose any problem as he’s registered five wins and three seconds from 10 starts when exiting from the ‘green’ alley.

His ‘salad days’ have rightly passed, but it should be noted that Hone In is a four-time Group race finalist – including victory in the 2018 Group 2 Richmond Derby (535m).

Check out Hone In’s most recent win, incidentally from box six at Geelong (400m), on July 26:
