FRIDAY FLUTTER – MEPUNGA PEGASUS

Pegasus, a mythical winged divine horse, is one of the most recognised creatures in Greek mythology.

But there’s nothing mythical about Mepunga Pegasus – albeit, if you have been privy to his devastating finishing bursts, you’d swear he has ‘wings’!

Prepared at Anakie by Jeffrey Britton, Mepunga Pegasus (Race 8, Box 4) is The Watchdog’s selection in a Restricted Win (0-4 Wins) event over 596 metres at Geelong tonight.

A powerful chaser, Mepunga Pegasus has notched four wins from eight starts – including three successive 515m wins (30.06sec, 29.75sec and 29.80sec) recently at Sandown Park.

Britton also trains former NSW speedster Alamo Joe (Race 3, Box 7), who The Watchdog predicts will ‘win the battle’ in a Grade 7 (460m). In fact, he is the GRV form analyst’s ‘Best Bet’ on the 12-event program.

Currently, Britton heads the trainers’ table at Geelong, with 55 winners from 196 runners at a strike rate of 28.06%.

Here is a replay of Mepunga Pegasus (box five) ‘sprouting wings’ when successful at Sandown Park on August 1:
