THURSDAY THOUGHT – WEBLEC KING

Top prospect Weblec King should reign supreme at Sandown Park tonight.

Form analyst The Watchdog is predicting Weblec King (box three) will rule with an ‘iron paw’ in a Grade Five over 515 metres.

Weblec King, who has been placed to perfection by Anakie mentor Matthew Lanigan, has won five of his past seven starts. He has only been unplaced once in 14 starts.

His Sandown Park record reads two wins, with three placings, from six starts – including a slick 29.49sec victory on July 21 and a 29.59sec best-of-day win last Sunday.

Already there’s an ‘air of royalty’ in the family as his litter brothers – Weblec Ace and Weblec Jack – recently contested the Group 3 Warragul St Leger final.

Ironically, Weblec King finished third to Weblec Jack and second to Weblec Ace – both at The Meadows – in his first two race starts.
