Team Fothergill hold a very strong hand in the 2019 coursing points leading three of the four categories coming into the season’s final event, the Waterloo Cup.
Barracuda Fozz clearly heads the Coursing Greyhound of the Year (by 15 points), followed by Barramundi Fozz.
As a result of their dominance, Brian Fothergill heads the Coursing Trainer of the Year ahead of Sean Lithgow and Wayne Gray. The Fothergill Racing Syndicate also clearly lead the Coursing Owner of the Year.
The only category they don’t lead is the best performed female greyhound of the season, which sits with coursing icon Gotham Queen.
The Victorian Waterloo Cup is coursing’s richest and most prestigious event with almost $13,000 to be awarded to the winner.
Last year’s winner Bear Left, trained by Ray Henness, is likely to target the event in an attempt to defend his title.
For the first time the winner of this year’s Waterloo Cup will be granted entry into heats of the $47,000 to-the-winner Healesville Cup – heats to be run Sunday September 1.
The Waterloo Cup and support events will be held across Saturday August 24 and Sunday August 25. Nominations close 8.30am on Thursday August 22 via FastTrack.
