This weekend’s Chase for Charity is focussing on tonight’s Group 3 Gold Cup (720m) at Wentworth Park in Sydney, which is scheduled to run at 9.35pm.
Liam Pickering is hoping that the Steve White-trained Boom Down (pictured), the only Victorian in the final, can pull out an upset which would see him rise to the top of the leaderboard.
“Boom Down is one of the strongest greyhounds in the country and he’s from Buln Buln, which is out my way near Warragul,” Craig Hutchison said.
Hutchy himself has selected Blue Moon Rising, who won the Group 1 Fanta Bale Super Stayers (725m) at The Meadows in February.
“Blue Moon Rising is a litter brother to the favourite (Poco Dorado) and he has beaten Tornado Tears, that why I like him a lot, while Dr Turf has selected Poco Dorado, who in his past 14 starts at Wentworth Park has won 13 times,” he said.
Each week the trio has $500 to bet on the greyhound of their choice with all winnings being donated to their nominated charity.
