Shepparton saddened by loss of Josh Maywald

The Shepparton greyhound racing community is saddened by the sudden loss of Josh Maywald to an aneurism at just 35 years of age.

Josh, of Broadford, enjoyed an involvement in greyhound racing as a breeder, rearer, owner and pre-trainer, while his partner Brooke is the daughter of Shepparton GRC Vice-President, Tony Schultz.

“Josh’s passing has really hit people at our club as he was one of the nicest young blokes you could meet – always saying hello and giving you a smile,” said Shepparton GRC Manager, Carl McGrath.

“He was a real grassroots greyhound person who just loved being around greyhounds…from pups to racing dogs to pets. To sum up Josh is simple – if you knew him you liked him, you couldn’t not. He will be deeply missed around our club.”

The greyhound racing community extends its condolences to the Maywald, Schultz and O’Keefe families, with the Shepparton GRC to hold a fundraiser in his honour.
