Puppy Championship continues as new events commence

One of the most prestigious meetings on Victoria’s 2018 Coursing Calendar will take place this Sunday at Lang Lang, with more than 90 greyhounds drawn to compete.

Following on from an exciting day of coursing action at the Gippsland straight track last weekend, this Sunday’s meeting will incorporate the final day of three key events – the Sylvester Doyle Puppy Championship, Gippsland Cup and Ray Boundy Memorial.

Sunday’s meeting will also include a number of same-sex puppy and maiden races.

“The Sylvester Doyle consisted of greyhounds competing in three courses last weekend and another three courses this week, whereas the Ray Boundy Memorial, being an open class coursing event, consisted of two courses last week and two this week for those greyhounds that won their way through,” said Heather Villinger of the National Coursing Association.

“The Gippsland Cup is for maidens, with greyhounds coursing twice last weekend and, for the eight greyhounds still in the series, they’ll have to compete three times this Sunday in order to win.”

Note: Catering and refreshments will be supplied by the Lang Lang Coursing Club.
