Imperative news regarding AGRA Nationals nominations

Brisbane is hosting next month’s 2017 AGRA National Sprint & Distance Championship Grand Finals, and governing body Racing Queensland is insisting on certain steps being followed by ALL trainers in every state before they can nominate any greyhound for heats in their home state. It is important that trainers understand that the following steps must be completed. The Conditions of Nomination Form must be completed no later than Thursday, 20 July at 12.00 noon (Melbourne time), which is in line with the National closing time. This form can be left at either Sandown Park or The Meadows.

REQUIREMENTS FOR VICTORIAN TRAINERS

Please note that Sandown Park is hosting Victoria’s Sprint heats, while The Meadows is hosting Victoria’s Distance heats.

ABOUT THE AGRA NATIONALS
Each year, the AGRA Nationals series incorporates a sprint and distance stream involving all states running heats and finals to determine which greyhounds earn the right to represent their state in the National Sprint & Distance Grand Finals. The Grand Finals are hosted by a different state each year. This is greyhound racing’s version of state-of-origin.

To be eligible to compete in a state’s heats, a greyhound must be domiciled in that state for not less than 76 of the 150 days immediately prior to the National Acceptance Closing Date (Thursday 20 July).

As host state in 2017, Queensland will have two representatives in each both the National Sprint & National Distance Grand Finals, while NSW, SA, Tasmania, Victoria and WA will have one representative each. A wild card entry – based on AGRA rankings (conditions apply) – will also qualify for each final.
