RSN Race Caller James Van de Maat has identified four basic points to look for when searching for a greyhound to buy at this Saturday’s Ready 2 Race Greyhound Sales at Bendigo.
More than 100 greyhounds will go to auction on Saturday providing an opportunity for people to enjoy the excitement of greyhound racing with a view to re-homing their dog as a pet once it retires from the racetrack.
Greyhounds trialed in fields of four in last Saturday’s heats at Bendigo over the 425 metre distance, with these greyhounds to do the same again on Thursday.
“The main four factors I take into account when watching greyhounds competing in the Ready 2 Race series are troubled runners, so in other words greyhounds that find trouble in their run, early pace, strength and the age of the greyhound,” Van de Maat explained in GRVextra’s 2016 Ready 2 Race Preview.
“The greyhounds in this series are aged between 16 and 28 months, and generally speaking the younger a greyhound is, the more scope it has for improvement.”
A day auction will begin at midday this Saturday at the Bendigo Greyhound Association in Junortoun, with a gala night auction to follow from 6:30pm for the 50 fastest performers in the heats.
You must be a registered owner with Greyhound Racing Victoria to bid.
