Horsham greyhound racing track to temporarily close as it undergoes a major upgrade

The Horsham Greyhound Racing Club will be closed for racing and trialling following tonight’s race meeting (Tuesday, October 11) at the track.

Major remedial works will be undertaken as a matter of urgency to replace ageing infrastructure.

The works will include the track being resurfaced, upgraded and widened in sections, along with the replacement of the outside perimeter fence and installation of a new lure rail.

Other smaller works will also be completed during this period, including the installation of a new set of starting boxes and a new catching pen gate.

The works will make it safer for greyhounds and are aimed at reducing interference during races.

Greyhound Racing Victoria and the Horsham Greyhound Racing Club will work with contractors to ensure that the closure of the track is kept to a minimum and will continue to communicate progress with participants on an ongoing basis.

The Tuesday twilight Full Stakes Provincial meetings normally held at Horsham will be allocated on a rotation between Warrnambool, Bendigo and Ballarat until works are complete.
