Mr Country Cup, also known as Zambora Brockie (pictured), has taken his group racing run to Brisbane for trainer Anthony Azzopardi.

After claiming victory in the Group 2 Horsham Cup and Warrnambool Cup earlier in the year, last night at Albion Park Zambora Brockie added the Group 1 Brisbane Winter Cup to his resume.

Zambora Brockie started as $2.30 favourite over fellow Victorian Blazin’ Bomber ($3.80) after taking time honours in the heats last week.

With $107,500 up for grabs, Zambora Brockie was challenged in the early stages by Split Image (box 7) but his classed shone through when he hit the lead heading into the home bend.

The son of Nitro Burst and Flying Liddy has now had 35 starts for 22 wins and six minor placings and earning over $300,00 in prize money.
