Since the 2015 Ready 2 Race Sales there have been a number of impressive greyhounds hit the racetrack.

Below I have identified my top four most promising greyhounds to have raced since the sales took place last November.

SPIRITED ROSE

(Lot 72, Purchase price $11,500)
Trainer: Ashlee Terry; Owner: Mixing Codes Syndicate
Starts: 2; 1st: 0 2nd: 0 3rd: 1; Prize money: $140 *as at 10 March

Comment: Spirited Rose (Pictured above) has only had the two starts and they were during the Shepparton Cup Carnival in a heat and semi-final of the GRV Vic Bred series over 450m. On both occasions she had no luck and was checked at critical stages. I think when you see her back on the race track she will be winning her way through her classes. Is part-owned by thoroughbreds legend, Deane Lester.

WATCH: Spirited Rose (1) was placed on debut in a heat of the Vic Bred Maiden series at Shepparton.

ULTIMATE PADDY
(Lot 102. Purchase Price $5,000)
Trainer: Kathryn Bentley; Owner: Ultimate Flyers Syndicate
Starts: 8; 1st: 1; 2nd: 3; 3rd: 1 Prize money: $1,695 *as at 10 March

Comment: He has had eight starts for one win and three minor placings. He is armed with good speed and is strong, and I expect he can progress up to 500m and beyond. While he won’t be a superstar I think you can follow him with confidence as he does everything right.

ELITE SHIRAZ
(Lot 10, Purchase Price $6,750)
Trainer: Michael Chilcott; Owner: Off The Bench City Syndicate
Starts: 7; 1st: 1; 2nd: 2; 3rd: 1; Prize money: $1,485 *as at 10 March

Comment: A purchase by Crocmedia’s Off The Bench syndicate, she has really hit her straps the last month or so. She had no luck at her first two starts, but since winning her maiden at Ballarat she has developed into a really consistent greyhound. She made the step up to 500m last start when placing at Sandown, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her winning in the metropolitan arena soon.

MISS FOX
(Lot 47, Purchase Price $3,000)
Trainer: Nicole Lund; Owner: Dr. Turf Three Syndicate
Starts: 7; 1st: 1; 2nd: 3; 3rd: 1; Prize money: $1,205 *as at 10 March

Comment: She broke her maiden status last start following three consecutive runner-up performances with an impressive win at Traralgon when she relished being drawn alongside the rail. She possesses good speed and I think in time she could get 500m, meaning racing in the city – where the big prize money is – wouldn’t be out of the question.

WATCH: Miss Fox (1) was challenged early but hugged the rail to win at Traralgon in 22.88sec.

At this very early stage, there hasn’t been any absolute standout stars from last year’s Ready 2 Race Sales just yet, but it will certainly be intriguing following these four greyhounds and watching their development over the next few months.

I’m hopeful that following these four youngsters will prove to be a profitable venture for punters.
