SANDOWN PARK PREVIEW: Four of the Best

The Sandown Park venue will be set to host a strong meeting of 12 races on Thursday night and I’ve scoured through the form in search of some runners to watch and this is what I’ve come up with.

After bursting on to the scene when heavily backed on debut, Eren Bale (R1 #2) backs up for his second outing and once again he’ll exit box number two.

The son of Bella Infrared dominated his first race with an exceptional show of mid race pace on the way to his smart overall 29.61 victory (Replay). If he can repeat that performance he should be winning this.

Despite coming up against some classy rivals, Greysynd Emma (R6 #1) appears a sensational place chance after she flew home over the 525m at The Meadows on Saturday night (Replay). She looks set to get a pretty good run from the draw and I’d be placing a small place bet on the roughie at bolters odds!

Berzerk (R7 #2) seems to be getting stronger with age after he produced a powerful finish to overrun Bearville Azza on the weekend in 30.17 at The Meadows (Replay).

In a mixed class race that lacks any early speed, he looks set establish a massive break mid race which should see him saluting.

I was quite impressed with Snakebite Bale (R11 #1) even in defeat on Saturday night. Despite plenty of things going against him, this super young prospect kept chasing with great zest and I think he looks perfectly drawn in the eleventh on Thursday.

He should enjoy having the rails to follow and once again this race looks to lack explosive early speed. Given a clear crack at them in the first couple of hundred he should prove a little too good!

Happy punting on a smart card of racing, with the last set to bounce at 10.58pm.
