Bianca’s Little Superstar

A little town called Longford, ten minutes from Sale, is where trainer Bianca Whitford’s property Ninety Mile Kennels is located.

Bianca currently trains just two greyhounds, inexperienced pair My Superstar (won three from eight) and Ninetymile Bart (one from four).

Once a pup without a kennel name, My Superstar has certainly found her place under Whitford’s care. Her most recent win – at Traralgon on October 24 – gave her trainer plenty of satisfaction.

“As a pup, she didn’t have a kennel name so I used to call her my little superstar and it stuck,” Whitford said of the daughter of Go Wild Teddy and Irish Malt.

“She’s consistent and she chases well. She is a little superstar to me. She tries every time I put her around. She is just a happy little thing that is always wagging her tail.”

Beginning well from box eight over the 395m distance, My Superstar found pace to lead and eventually notched her third win.

“She likes it out wide so when she drew out there I expected her to go pretty well. The distance is pretty much spot on for her. She has found a little niche at Traralgon because she likes the start on the bend and it suits her racing pattern. It’s pretty unique,” explained Whitford.

Watch: My Superstar (8) stays focused on the job at hand despite persistant pressure from Wasabi Princess.
