Community Groups Hoping their Lucky Number Comes Up as TAB Great Chase Grand Final becomes a Lottery

The atmosphere will be electric at Wednesday’s Group 2 TAB Great Chase Grand Final as almost 60 organisations from the disability sector based all around Victoria will converge to The Meadows in Melbourne to partake in a lottery draw for their chance to share in $17,500 in cash.

Groups are travelling from as far as Bairnsdale, Horsham and Warrnambool to enjoy a carnival-style experience at what is Victorian greyhound racing’s biggest community event of the year, boasting free entertainment and catering for the groups.

For the first time, every group in attendance at the Grand Final will go into a draw ON THE DAY to be matched to a greyhound competing in the Grand Final.

The 59 groups were among the 125 organisations that care for the intellectually or physically disabled to enjoy a VIP ‘Community Day’ at their local greyhound racetrack in recent weeks where they shared in $26,000 as a result of being matched to competing greyhounds for a day. All groups have been invited to the Grand Final, but some cannot attend for logistical reasons.

For the first time in the 13 year history of the Great Chase, every group attending the grand final will go into a draw on the day to be matched to one of the eight greyhounds competing in the Grand Final.

All eight groups drawn out at the Grand Final will win an amount of prize money correlating with their greyhound’s finishing place, including $10,000 to be awarded to the organisation matched to the Grand Final winner, followed by amounts of $3,000 (2nd), $2,500 (3rd) & $2,000 (4th-8th).

The Grand Final giveaways will amount to $43,500 in cash distributed to Victoria’s disability sector from the 2015 TAB Great Chase.
