Vic Breeders Maiden Preview: Mystery Bet to Prove Profitable

Greyhound Racing heads to Lords Raceway at Bendigo on Friday for a top notch day of racing with the GRV Vic Bred Maiden Final the feature.

Race 4 at 4:04pm is the main event and what a race it shapes up to be. The two dogs drawn in boxes 1 & 2 have been exceptional in their heat and semi-final wins and they look set to duel again tomorrow.

Mystery Ride, who has drawn the pole, has won both starts to date in fast time and was brilliant last week winning by 10 1/2L in the very quick time of 27.95. He is a kennelmate to track record holder Midnight Ride, and seems blessed with the same ability. If he can keep out Carbon Racer early he is going to be very hard to beat. Here is a replay of his semi-final win last Friday…

His main danger certainly is that of the Ray Henness trained Carbon Racer. He won both his heat and semi-final with sizzling early sections, opening up big leads on his rivals. If he can cross Mystery Ride early it will set it up for a special race. He did finish 2nd at Shepp Monday Night but wasn’t beaten far there.

They look the two standouts, but I certainly give other chances to Jaguara for Kelly Bravo, Baltic Valhalla, who hasn’t missed a place in nine starts and also the reserve Jaimandy Hatty, who can run a cheeky race if he gains a start.

On a terrific day of racing other good bets include Race 5 Number 1 Young Henry. He is drawn well and if he can hold his place early he is certainly worth an each way ticket. He is currently $7.50 with The Watchdog. Over to Race 11 and I’m super keen on Major Curly (8) here. He has bolted in his last to races at Healesville running fast time and if he can bring the straight track form here he should be going very close to winning. Lastly Noaki’s Girl in Race 12 looks a big chance. She has been a dominant winner at her last four starts and although awkwardly drawn she has loads of early speed, so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue here and she will be very hard to beat.

I hope this has helped you find a winner or two to kick off your weekend in good style. Good Luck and Good Punting.
