Nationals Preview: Mexican Double on the Cards?

Sydneysiders sometimes refer to Victorians as Mexicans, given we are located south of the border, and with greyhound racing’s Nationals Grand Finals upon us TAB has come up with a promotion titled the ‘Mexican Double’.

The Mexican Double relates to the chances of Victorian greyhounds winning both the National Sprint Championship and National Distance Championship at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Victoria has two representatives in each of these Group 1 events, with Fernando Bale and Margins to tackle the Sprint, and Sweet It Is and Lady Toy to contest the Distance (the latter pair are pictured above).

NO $2.15

If a Victorian (or Mexican) double does come to fruition on Saturday night, it will see a 13 year drought broken.

The last time this occurred was way back in 2002 at Albion Park in Queensland, when In The Frame (Sprint) and Boomeroo (Distance) were successful for the Big V.

Meanwhile, TAB is also offering a juicy $7.00 for the two ‘Wildcard’ entrants – Fernando Bale and Lady Toy – to win.
