Metro Wrap: Pappa Gallo’s Boss Run

Another week of Victorian metropolitan racing comes to an end with once again some speedy wins throughout the week.

The metro racing began Wednesday from The Meadows and on a track that was lightly harrowed a few days prior, moderate times were the order of the day. Ima Misha Doll set the time standard for the day with another impressive all of the way win in 30.31. The Heather Collins prepared chaser bounced straight to the run dominating from the get-go racking up her fifth win at start fifteen (Replay).

Sandown Park held a strong meeting on Thursday night with Cranbourne to City sprint final going to Peggy Sable who handled box one beautifully leading from pillar to post in 30.05 beating Johnny Mobster and One Cup Short who filled out the placings.

The stayers edition of the Cranbourne to City final proved an extremely competitive race with Miss Bo Wicked staved off Feikuai Polly who had headed her in the straight with Ryno’s Raider winding up a super third after severe early trouble.

Lamia Bale continued to impress with her great run of form winning the free for all, despite working hard in 29.51. ‘Miss Consistent’ has now amassed over $340,000 with 18 wins and 20 placings from 56 starts (Replay).

Saturday night racing from The Meadows saw Fabio To Excel rack up his first metropolitan win nailing Chucka Bone right on the post in 35.00.  I thought the win of Sir Bekim was really good as he finally brought his fast form from Horsham to The Meadows with a smart 34.50 gallop over the 600m (Replay).

Hard Bargain notched up his fourth win at start five with a speedy win leading from barrier to box in the Bendigo to City final for the sprinters. Some of the more impressive wins of the night included Weston East in 29.80 (Replay), Weblec Belle in 30.00 (Replay), Gaucho in 29.95 (Replay) and What’s Chewing in 34.41 (Replay).

To wrap up the week greyhound racing returned to Sandown Park on Sunday and the highlight for mine was Pappa Gallo (pictured above with handler Tony Cortese), who jumped beautifully winning in 29.58 (Replay). The time standard for the day was set by Weblec Rose, who bounced and ran winning in a slick 29.43.
